About the Author
Dr Trevor J. Hawkeswood has published more than 420 scientific papers and books on invertebrates and plants. He holds science degrees from universities in Australia and the United States. He has experienced a number of paranormal events in his extensive travels, many of which are outlined in Light and Dark. He currently lives in Australia.

"Light and Dark" by Dr. Trevor J. Hawkeswood

This is, perhaps, one of the most difficult book reviews I have ever written. The reason being that Light And Dark, by Dr. Trevor J. Hawkeswood, is one of the most detailed and information laden books I believe I have ever read. From start to finish, it is not merely a page turner, but a fascinating journey, guided by the author, a man who has had more experiences with the paranormal, than many of the top authors of the same genre put together.
Light And Dark, is indeed, in the opinion of The Bliss-Parsons Institute, the finest book written on the paranormal genre for this time and generation. It is a veritable encyclopedia of personal experiences, the likes of which have never been entertained before in books on the subjects contained within: Guardian Angels, Ghosts, UFO's, Demons, Gargoyles, Vampires, Precognition, Clairaudience, OBE's, just to name a few. Light And Dark, even has some new material and information that I had never heard before, and which stimulated my mind tremendously.
Light And Dark, is written with great skill and attention to detail with, perhaps, it's most incredible feature being it's documentation of fact and references. I have read and studied nearly every book on this genre over the years - literally hundreds of them - and I have never encountered any that came anywhere close to providing the quality of references, glossary and appendix, that Light And Dark provides. I was absolutely astounded at Dr. Hawkeswood's numerous lists of references that followed each chapter of his book. These references and the bibliography/appendix in the back are an absolute treasure house for any credible student of the paranormal. The book is well worth the price just for the reference referrals.
My two favorite aspects about Light And Dark, are 1. the fact that it is primarily a book of the unusual, personal experiences, gained by the author over his years in pursuit of the supernatural, and 2. Chapter 9, "Conclusions with Skeptics and Debunkers Debunked!" This chapter contains the most open and honest treatise on "debunking the debunkers of the paranormal" I believe I have ever read. I applaud Dr. Hawkeswood for such a complete, and factual discussion of this subject. This chapter alone earned him five stars from me.
In closing, I would like to personally commend Dr. Hawkeswood, for what I believe to be the best book yet on experiential paranormal subject matter. The Bliss-Parsons Institute ([...]) highly recommends both the book, Light And Dark, as well as the author, Dr. Trevor J. Hawkeswood. Dr. Hawkeswood's research is destined to become a genre favorite for many years. If you have not read it, you owe it to yourself to do so. You will not be disappointed.

The Paranormal...One Man's Truth

I had to read this book in one sitting. It hooked me from the first sentence that reads, 'I have been a human being now for just over 56 years.' This simple sentence drew me into Dr Hawkeswood's world from the get-go. His experiences validated some incidences of my own journey which had me thinking that I was perhaps a little loopy. Hawkeswood explains through his own experiences, 'Black Ghosts', Guardian Angels, Spiritual and Ghostly visitations, Precognition and Clairaudience to name just a few. I marvelled at coincidences that weren't and how Hawkeswood's family was protected from events that can have catastrophic consequences. The Granville Train disaster in Sydney was one such event that touched his family. Light and Dark is a must read for those interested in the paranormal, to increase your knowledge and awareness, and also the average reader who sometimes sees, feels and hears things they don't understand. This book may be a source of comfort as you understand the light and dark influences of this world. Thanks Dr. Hawkeswood for clarifying some of the scary bits of my life.

A fascinating and compelling journey into one man's experiences with the paranormal

The Bard might just as well have been speaking about Dr. Trevor J. Hawkeswood and his fascinating book Light and Dark: My Experiences with the Paranormal.
Divided into eight briskly written chapters, Dr. Hawkeswood shares his personal encounters with good and bad paranormal “things in heaven and earth” and it makes for a most compelling read.
He begins with the Shadow People (or Black Ghosts), a popular topic that has been covered in at least ten films and numerous television episodes. What’s so fascinating about the subject is not just the author’s experiences but also his theories about their origins and why he suspects they are here and interacting with us. He ends the chapter with a generous selection of books on Shadow People and their ilk that the reader can seek out for further information.
You’ll find yourself quickly turning the pages as he shares his encounters and first hand recollections about Guardian Angels, Ghostly Visitors, UFOs, Demon Gargoyles and Vampires as well as experiences with Precognition and Clairaudience (hearing voices, music and sounds from another dimension) and he rounds out this captivating book with his first-hand account of Out of Body Experiences (OBE’s).
One of the most gripping tales is how he and his family were divinely saved from the Granville, Sydney Rail Disaster of 1977 in which more than 80 people were killed. The story is both astonishing to read and also remarkable in revealing the simple and clever way the Guardian Angel went about protecting Hawkeswood and his family.
The chapter on Precognition I also found of particular interest because of Hawkeswood’s ability to succinctly tell the events, offer the best explanation he can of what occurred, and then provide historical evidence and documented antidotes of this phenomenon.
Light and Dark is also a keeper in that it doubles as a reference book. Not only does each chapter conclude with a list of books on the topic covered, more than 50 pages are devoted to an extensive and wide-ranging Appendix of UFO, alien and extraterrestrial books, and there’s also a 12-page glossary of terms used throughout Light and Dark, which makes for an excellent resource for those not familiar with the world of the paranormal.
For believers and doubters, this book provides you with both a confirmation and a challenge as to the existence of “ghoulies and ghosties and long-leggedy beasties and things that go bump in the night.” Or as Dr. Hawkeswood writes, “Get over it, you disbelievers and debunkers out there, because these paranormal entities and experiences described by me and other noteworthy researchers and experiencers are real and not a figment of our imaginations!”
