Really good story. Case is young and somewhat headstrong or self sufficient as she likes to call it. Hall is bitter because he had to take over the ranch after his parents died but we never found out why his bitterness has continued for so long or why there is a feud between his family and Case's. The plot is well thought out and well written. They relate well to each other and fall in love. The book ended a bit abruptly; I would have liked to read about how her family reacted to their relationship and also how the mystery of the absent/kidnapped brother would be resolved. Perhaps there will be a sequel.

Sexy Distracting and SO good

I was literally (meaning I actually was ;-)) sitting in a church pew trying to finish this book before church started because it was SO riveting! I was hanging on every word and completely oblivious to the world because the story was so enthralling.

There is absolutely nothing I would change about the story. The spankings, scoldings, fights, "Sexy times", everything was perfection.

Ok, so I might like to know what happens next, but that's always how a good book/series goes. Leaves you wanting more, waiting with bated breath for the next volume, chapter, word. And this book did exactly that.

Great book

I was wanting to explore in this area of ham radio, and needed something to help get me started. This book got me started. It's a very readable book, with an excellent brief history from Sputnik in 1957 to today's International Space Station. It has an extensive chapter on antennas and satellite ground station projects. Until I read this book, I didn't know I already had the equipment needed to make contacts up above with my own dual band 2 meter/440 mhz handy operating mobile out of my car with a little mag mount antenna. It lists all the current satellites for ham operation with operating frequencies. Together with my Droid Ham Sat satellite pass calculator app on my smartphone, I have what I need to get started. Not as extensive as the previous version

This version of the Satellite Handbook, while more up to date, is lacking in a great many respects to the earlier version by Martin Davidoff. If you really want to gain an understanding of satellite orbits for instance, this version has moved Davidoff's text to an appendix and removed all the illustrations. If you're serious about satellites, get both books.

ARRL Satellite Handbook

I'm just getting into with-satellite communication, despite a career track in electrical engineering and a long time in amateur radio. There was a lot I had missed. This book is a decent primer for that. There is other literature that is more specific on assembling a satellite-capable ground station, and I'll acquire those too. The more technical the material, the faster it tends to become obsolete. The material in this bolume is as close to timeless as one can get in a fast-moving field.

Insight from 4 centuries before Christ!

Wow, what an amazing piece of history this writing is! You really cannot understate the importance of Plato's "The Republic." The writing explores what an ideal state/nation/society is and how to achieve it. I won't go into too much detail, but the writing covers A LOT of ground. It discusses the nature of justice, the theory of forms, the immortality of the soul, and the role of philosophy and poetry in society. If you consider yourself a learned person, you cannot skip over this writing from 380 BC. The insight it provides to our world TO THIS DAY is simply amazing.

If anyone is newly interested in philosophy, I would most certainly recommend Republic. In fact, it was my first delve into philosophy and it has genuinely changed my life in the years since. About the Author
Brooke Willett has been writing since she could hold a chubby crayon. She got her start, singing into an upside down plastic hair brush, wearing a yellow dress and oversized sun glasses, to an audience of American dolls, My Little Pony, and a Raggedy Ann. She got her first big break when she realized she did not understand the world, so she set out in search for answers. She's got railroad in her blood. Both Brooke's biological father and maternal grandfather were lifelong conductors.

A must read for the survival/disaster genre

Book Review: How to be a Hobo, by Brooke Willet 5 out of 5 stars

My father once told me: “Don’t be so hard on the homeless and hobo’s because you can easily be in their position; don’t change or take a shower for a week and you’ll be just like they are.” How to be a Hobo by Brooke Willett is a necessary book in the Disaster Response/Survival genre. Ms. Willett wrote this book after having a crisis in her life, her response was to give up everything and go on the road with her beloved dog Cloud.

Over the year or so she was in this situation, she wrote about how to get by on the streets and in many ways thrive. She briefly discusses most aspects of how to survive from dumpster diving, to where to sleep safely. The realization for the reader is that you truly don’t need much. She ends the book with how to get off the streets. This book does not romanticize this lifestyle, but successfully gives a first person point of view of people in this situation.

I think a lot of folks have gone through a rough period in their life when we realize things aren’t as we were told. Most of us will never do something as extreme as Brooke, but it was her way of dealing with it. One paragraph I believe sums up what she learned from being on the road perfectly:

“Life is a journey. Don’t forget to stop and enjoy it once in a while, don’t get so caught up in life’s pleasures that you destroy what is truly important here. What is truly important? Creating the life you want to live. A life of fulfillment, happiness and purpose. Be your own author.”

A Pocket Guide for Alternative Lifestyles

Full of anecdotes and practical information for those that find themselves, voluntarily or not, living the hobo life. Written in first person, Brooke and her pup Cloud had spent several years traveling alone and with a pack of like minded travelers, by rail, thumb and bus. The pictures are gritty and real, this may well be the next cult classic. Move over Jack Kerouac. I look forward to more from this young writer.

easy go" attitude toward basics like blankets

This is a thought-provoking description from the inside of a sub-culture most of us would avoid joining at all costs. What surprised me most was the "easy come, easy go" attitude toward basics like blankets, clothing, and other necessities. Although the author begs us repeatedly to help out "dirty kids," I am less likely to hand out blankets, knowing they will probably end up rotting in a forest somewhere. Still, I am grateful to this book for inside information about the homeless problem. I hope that it persuades some young person experiencing hard times that abandoning possessions and hitting the road is not the answer. While I think most Americans, including myself, own way too much stuff, this book has convinced me that I really wouldn't want to own just the contents of a backpack and the clothes on my back.

A Love Story.

A love story for followers of FLW. The Peterson Cottage has always been my favorite FLW. To see it lovingly rehabilitated and cared for is both a tribute to the Architect and its original dreamer/owner. It's way up on my bucket list to see. Until then, I have this gem of a book.
