Beautiful Projects!

I love to bead and peyote is my favorite beading stitch. This book contains 15 projects and I actually like most of them.
The book contains 2 projects made with flat peyote stitch, 3 projects with circular peyote stitch, and 3 projects using tubular peyote. Then there are 5 projects called "peyote stitch extras" which incorporate other techniques like freeform and sculptural and other stitches like herringbone, right angle weave and netting.
The final 2 projects are categorized as "finishing touches", teaching various types of fringe, picot edging, bezels and others.

The photography is in full-color and is of great quailty. The diagrams are really clear and, at a glance, you can see how the pattern progresses. No matter how well-written beading instructions are, it is alwasys easy to get confused and lose track of where you are. That is why good diagrams are so important and this book has that.

The author also included a resource section in back which is nice to have.

Overall, this is a great book and I would recommend it to both beginners and advanced beaders.

Intricate Instructions

I have been beading for several years now and I am familiar with nearly all of the beading techniques. Personally, I would rather see patterns that are actual pictures, rather than drawings. While I admire some of the beading projects, I find the instructions in this book hard to understand and have had to look to similar instructions from other beading books to actually understand the author's instructions. I would not recommend this book for a beginner.

Nice projects pictures disappointing in the kindle book

I was looking forward to this book and now I finally have it. The pictures are thumbnails or have an unnecessary amount of white space. It's a beading book of instructions, with lots of words. If the pictures had been bigger it would be perfect.

From that perspective it is just "ok".

The Seductive Circle

For anyone interested in how dreams, symbols, mythology, archetypes, and stories contribute to the exploration of how we relate to ourselves and others, Rachel Fitzgerald's book, She Moves in Circles: Vital Links to the Archaic Mind, offers a feast of opportunities in which to indulge. Stories are told within the context of both observers/witnesses and the ones experiencing a deeper understanding of how Toni Wolff's feminine archetypes play out within the modern woman's psychology and in the complex and ever changing world in which we live.

I'm especially taken with the elegance of the structure and language of this presentation of Fitzgerald's psychological insights. As the title announces, "she moves in circles." Themes are told, echoed, explored in multiple colorations, and spun off of, into, and out of the stories the different narrators relate. The language sings with the conciseness, precision, and forcefulness of a rap song yet suggests the beauty, elegance, and complexity of an opera.

In the end, because the seemingly simple text is so dense, I had no choice but to revisit the book immediately. I've now been through She Moves in Circles three times and look forward to my next reading, knowing I will not only be opened to a deeper understanding of myself and my relationships to others and the world in which we live, but I will be immersed in language both seductive and inspirational.

Fitzgerald writes with heart, intellect, wisdom, and a deep understanding of who we are now, where we've come from, and who we have the potential to become. I highly recommend a trip through this brilliant guide to exploring our inner and outer dimensions.

Illuminating

This is more of a handbook for the masses. Have you been abducted? Let's see. The book is meant to explain what she has found in her research about the abduction phenomenon as well as how others have managed the fear, awe and surprises that accompany it. She includes a workbook that allows the "Experiencer" to outline their out of the ordinary experiences and focus in on their lives. These could be signs of having experienced contact from other worldly phenomenon. Although she does a good job of staying neutral, her research from thousands of regressions leads her to believe that contact is benign and can be illuminating for some. Whether you agree is up to you. The book is written from a clinical perspective, although experiences are included for emphasis and explanations are present. Consequently, it's easier to cross reference other research in other fields. There is a good reference in the back. Although she addresses adult experiences, her focus seems to lie in extraordinary children around the globe who show signs of unusual abilities. It was an excellent book for me because it is broken down into specific areas that address each aspect of the reported phenomenon.

Important book for parents, educators, counsellors... We just don't know it all.

Fascinating book that explains so much. I was initially annoyed by the crammed typeface and narrow margins, but very quickly the amazing content had me put that aside. Reading this book has greatly increased my understanding of what is happening to humanity today, and led me on to some further illuminating video's by Mary Rodwell. A very important read for those who claim to have an open mind, waste of time for those who are blinkered by fear.

Surprisingly useful for Step I

I used this book for the physical dx shelf exam at the end of our 2nd year clinical methods course. The book was absolutely essential for this exam, and indeed proved very helpful for step I as well. All questions were in vignette format, as is Step I. In contrast with some other books in the PreTest series, the questions were consistent and of an appropriate level of difficulty. The answers are extensive and helpful as well. THE QUESTIONS IN THIS BOOK WERE ACTUALLY FUN TO DO!!

Too difficult for Intro to clinical dx shelf exam

Our school recommended this book for the intro to clinical dx shelf exam even though I think it's supposed to be for Step 2 CK because ummm...that's what it SAYS ON THE BACK! As far as using this for the shelf exam, it is way harder than it needs to be and the explanations don't do any heavy lifting for you. Just think of all those crappy teachers you had in your first two years, they basically expect you to understand it all with very minimal effort on their behalf. Not ...fun ...at ...all.

Even though in a year I might know more and be more comfortable with the material, my plan is also not to use this book for Step 2 CK and hopefully find something better.

Good Book, but expect to bring other references during the exam.

I just took the last PE exam and found this book to be helpful. You'll really need to buckle down and read through it though. If you want to pass, I suggest bringing a minimum of three reference books. This book, Hiner's book and the ASCE 7-05. I brought the IBC but didn't have to use it. This book along with Hinder's had most of the references that I needed. Some questions required the ASCE 7-05. I didn't have the ASCE 7-05 :(

In any case I was able to pass by studying through this WHOLE book and Hiner's WHOLE book. I didn't take any classes.

By doing so, their team may receive certain benefits, but may also find itself limited at a crucial time. With the variety offered by the characters, factions and scenarios, no two games of Black Ops should ever be the same!

Although the standard Black Ops setting is an ultra-modern world just a hair removed from our own, the rules are versatile and adaptable enough to suit OSS operations behind Nazi lines, Cold War-era infiltration missions in Moscow or Berlin, or sabotage runs against a rival corporation's interests in a cyberpunk dystopia, and the rulebook will include a guide to running games in such settings.

The Osprey series of shorter game rules continues to delight. In a world where miniature game riles, and RPG rules are generally in excess of $50, a $20 set of rules is a godsend. Black Ops offers the opportunity to play anything from James bond-ish encounters to small-arms teams anywhere one can imagine. I find it also much easier to develop house rules for these shorter games. Very good value in these titles.

Cool artwork like you would expect

My copy of Osprey's Black Ops came in today. After a quick thumb-through:

64 pages. Cool artwork like you would expect.
Standard rules for shooting and hand to hand. Night fighting. Thermals. Indirect fire. Vehicles. Stealth and Suppression. Troops of varying skill level and quality. Reaction tables for civilians and neutrals so they can be "automated".

An AK47 has the same stats as an M16 although though they do differentiate for Battle Rifles (M14, FN Fal).

The only specific scifi treatment seems to come from two small tables at the rear of the book. One for gadgets like thermoptic camo from Ghost in the Shell. The other is for direct energy weapons. Roughly 11 entries from both lists combined.

Looks to have potential! Could have used more scifi elements. Perhaps there will be a supplement.
