Good book!

I bought this book for my nephew, he got it for one of his classes in college, I assume it is pretty good, but as I said before, I did not read it. My nephew though seems to like it very much and suggested that I give it 5 stars, and after all, he is the one using it so he should know. I'm sorry that I cannot give details on this book.

not the best

I personally think there are easier to understand texts. Sedra and Smith does a much better job of systematically explaining concepts with less arm waving. I'm not sure if I got a bad copy but there seem to be a lot of errors in the problems and answers. The author tends to make assumptions/simplifications without telling the student to do so on some problems. Unfortunately Sedra and Smith is big and heavy, this text is easier to carry around.

Although a small amount of material, this book does a good job of introducing the student to the IC layout for transistors, resistors, and capacitors. Some texts are overwhelming because of the amount of layout related material, this is a good start. The other thing that this text tends to do well is stress the body connection. However, sometime the author includes it in problems and other times he doesn't.

If you are very familiar with the subject this book is very helpful. If not then you need the text book which is about three times the price. If your air conditioning is broken research the companies in your area and call a tech. Trying to fix it yourself could cost you thousands of dollars.

About the Author
Dr. Elkins is Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Towson University where she teaches in the Masters of Science in Forensic Chemistry Program. Previously, she was the Director of Forensic Science and Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Metropolitan State College of Denver. She has her Bachelor of Science in Biology, Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and her PhD in Chemistry with an emphasis on Biochemistry. Focused on the Forensic DNA field, she has developed a network of contacts in crime laboratories throughout Colorado and the Four Corners region and looks forward to extending her network in the Baltimore/DC area.

    This book concisely breaks down the basics of the Norwegian language. Just be forewarned, however: this is only the book. It does not come with audio CDs. Well-written, though.

    About the Author

    Dr. Jeffrey K. Liker is Professor of Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan and President of Liker Lean Advisors. He is author of the international best-seller, The Toyota Way: 14 Management Principles from the World’s Greatest Manufacturer, 2004 (26 languages, over 900,000 copies sold), and has coauthored eight other books about Toyota including The Toyota Way to Lean Leadership (2011).� His articles and books have won twelve Shingo Prizes for Research Excellence. In 2012 he was inducted into the Association of Manufacturing Excellence Hall of Fame and in 2016 inducted into the Shingo Academy.

    Many of us in leadership roles read a lot in the hopes of finding "that book" - the one that changes your paradigm around your role in transforming your organization, clarifying questions you've been asking yourself or ones you didn't know but you could somehow feel. For many, this is going to be "that book". As a healthcare executive and lean practitioner, I found The Toyota Way to Service Excellence to be full of key insighfs for my leadership.     ANOTHER GREAT BOOK FROM JEFF LIKER. MUST READ, ABSOLUTELY!

    Jeff shares with us another great book on the Toyota Way, not just by expanding the thinking to service, but also by clarifying again his deeper thoughts about the Toyota Way itself, in its clearer expression yet. Jeff and Karyn also make a wonderful job of showing very practical ways to jump into service issues with the Toyota Way, in a language adapted to service cultures and largely free of manufacturing lingo. A delightful read, and a real success. Read it, use it!

    A Must Read

    The Toyota Way to Service Excellence by Jeffery K. Liker & Karyn Ross
    First, I highly recommend this book. As a retired Vice President of Quality Assurance, Plant Manager and college professor I am very familiar with and have used the Toyota methods extensively. In my experience I have found it is much more difficult to get buy-in to the Toyata way from service and administrative personnel than from manufacturing personnel. Liker and Ross have done an excellent job showing why and how the Toyota way can work in the service areas. They also did a great job showing why it must be done if organizations want to be more successful. I must caution that one size does not fit all and each organization must implement in a way that fits their organization. I received a free copy of The Toyota Way to Service Excellence by Jeffery K.
